Heartburn Home Remedies, A Little Advice for You

An assortment of homemade cures can be found all over the internet. Some are unusual while others seem to make a lot of sense when you know how they help. Papaya, garlic, bananas, almonds and apple cider vinegar are a few heartburn home remedies that people use.

Each remedy comes with a warning. Read the entire how to use and the warning before trying the method.

When garlic is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is cooking. Did you know that garlic is also an herbal supplement that boosts your immune system and makes your heart stronger? Yes, this food is very versatile. It seems that garlic is also among the most used home remedy ideas as well. Garlic sauce can cause heartburn for some individuals. A clove or two of garlic can stop heartburn in its tracks.

If you decide to give garlic a try, chew a clove at the first sign of heartburn. If you think you may want to try it in the future, place some cloves in apple cider vinegar. When needed, take a little sip of the liquid.

Raw garlic works because it is a power-packed antibiotic. Garlic is known to kill the organisms that are found in heartburn sufferers.

Warning: Garlic may interfere with certain prescription medication. Consult your doctor before you use it. You are going to have bad breath after chewing the garlic. To treat this problem, chew gum, sprigs of parsley or a couple coriander seeds.

Another remedy is papaya. This fruit assists in digestion as well.

Fresh papaya can be difficult to find. You can use dried papaya but only eat small amounts.

Before you eat your meal, eat some papaya. If you have heartburn after the meal do the same.

Papain is an enzyme that is found in the papaya fruit. The enzyme assists in digestion.

Warning: If you are allergic to latex, talk to your doctor before consuming papaya. Papaya should be avoided by those who are pregnant.

Some believe that banana's help with their heartburn while others say this fruit causes their heartburn. Those who like bananas should try this remedy. If not, look at some of the others mentioned in this article.

Not too ripe, but fresh bananas are recommended for desired results.

Eat the banana as usual or use dried bananas.

Bananas act as an antacid by covering the lining of your stomach, which in turn, provides relief from heartburn.

Warning: Diabetic, or those taking MAOI inhibitors, should talk to their doctor before eating bananas.

Another home remedy, for heartburn, that many swear by is apple cider vinegar.

For those who can handle it, drink a teaspoon of the apple cider vinegar by itself. If that is something you simply cannot do or do not want to attempt, here is an idea to take the edge off.

Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a tad bit of sugar. Add a little amount of baking soda and 6 ounces of water. Drink the mix while it is still fizzing.

Since vinegar is a base, it is understandable that it would work against excessive stomach acid. It is believed that vinegar also makes the esophageal sphincter contract which aids in keeping the stomach acid down.

Warning: When using this remedy, do so sparingly or drink it through a straw. Vinegar will start to eat the enamel off your teeth if direct contact is made on a regular basis. Drink plenty of water when using this remedy as well.

Last but not least, almonds can be used to relieve heartburn. So, leave some room in your stomach for this tasty remedy.

Eat a few almonds when the first sign of heartburn arises.

Almonds contain a high level of oil which counteracts the stomach acid.

Warning: If you are allergic to tree nuts, DO NOT use this remedy.

Acid Reflux Remedies - Heartburn Relief - Heartburn Symptoms

What are acid reflux remedies and what is acid reflux? Acid reflux or Gastrointestinal Reflux Disease is basically known as heartburn. When too much acid gets build up in your stomach and travels upwards it creates heartburn. Heartburn symptoms can range from a slight discomfort under the breastbone to a severe pain. Sometimes when people are suffering from heartburn, they may think that they are having a heart attack if the pain is bad enough. However, this has nothing to do with heart conditions. Since the burning sensation is located mostly by the breastbone, people tend to think it is the heart.

Acid reflux is a symptom of heartburn and it happens when the gastric acids are regurgitated into the esophagus. This can cause a long term or a temporary damage to the wall that separates the stomach and the esophagus. People who suffer from this condition they may notice pain in swallowing, nausea or a bitter taste in their throat and mouth.

Acid Reflux Remedies and How to Avoid them

Acid reflux occurs by eating the wrong types of food. For example, spicy food, such as tacos and greasy food are the main culprits, as well as drinking caffeinated, carbonated and alcoholic beverages. Also smoking and stress leads to acid reflux as well as taking certain medications. Pregnant women are also victims.

You can avoid acid reflux by watching what you eat and do. Try skipping greasy and spicy food altogether and switch to decaffeinated tea and coffee. Also avoid beverages with alcohol and quit smoking and you will see that your heartburn will disappear. However, you may not want to stop eating the food you like. Also, smoking is a hard habit to break.

There are a few steps to follow to reduce the discomfort of acid reflux. Don't overeat and make sure that you eat more frequent meals in smaller sizes. It will also help you if you eat slowly rather than quickly. After you eat your dinner, wait for two hours before going to bed. This not only helps you reduce the chance of acid reflux, it will also help you to lose weight faster if you are trying to get rid of some extra pounds. Do not sleep flat on your back; use pillows to elevate your head.

To stop your heartburn, try using some home remedies and there are so many available that can help you. However, if your heartburn pain is severe and unbearable, see your doctor. He can prescribe medications for your pain.

This is a delicious remedy for your annoying acid reflux pain. If you drink tea, add some ginger to it. You can find ginger in the spice section of your local grocery store. Another option is to buy ginger root at a health food store. With the spice, put a teaspoon of it in your tea. If you buy the root, dice it before adding it. You can make the tea ahead of time and keep it in your refrigerator. Just heat a cup in the microwave for forty-five seconds to a minute.

Another very good remedy is baking soda. Mix a teaspoon in a glass of warm water. Baking Soda neutralizes the acid in your stomach.

Apple cider vinegar has an acid in it that neutralizes the acids in your stomach. Mix a tablespoon with warm water.

You can drink water instead of carbonated beverages. Because you have damaged tissues in your esophagus, sodas and other drinks such as orange juice will not help. In fact, they may even do more damage. Water is good at repairing the damaged tissues. If you need to drink soda, go for ginger ale. As mentioned before, ginger plays wonders with acid reflux.

Chances are you will be the victim of acid reflux at least once in your life. Do not let it control you. When you feel that burning sensation, use these natural home remedies to cure it. However, if your pain does not go away or if it is too severe for you to handle, call your doctor. Remember these are remedies for acid reflux, not medical treatment.

The author, Jacqueline Gharibian, has given some very few home remedy options. She believes in not using medication for every little thing but try some natural remedies first. Most of the times, home remedies do work like magic. To read more you can visit her site KangenWaterCure

Cure for Heartburn or Acid Reflux

You know it may hit you moments after you have eaten something that you shouldn't have. You begin to feel that burning sensation in your stomach that slowly works its way into the back of your throat. Not only is it uncomfortable, leaves a nasty bitter taste in your mouth but it will not depart either. You glug down ant-acids without success. That unpleasant burning sensation stays with you for hours at a time. And laying down doesn't help, just makes it worse making it virtually impossible to sleep.

These are the excitement of acid reflux disease, often referred to as gastro-esophageal reflux disease. Acid reflux occurs when the contents of the stomach are regurgitated into the esophagus and throat. The culprit is a muscle in your esophagus that is not working in the right way. Normally it prohibits the contents of you stomach from flowing back into your esophagus, but when it doesn't function right your stomach acid and bile flows back into your esophagus causing that burning sensation and bitter taste.

There are quite a few natural remedies for acid reflux but the only way to offset its affects is to eat a balanced diet that helps constrain the over production of gastric acids. If you suffer from acid reflux then you'll come to know which foods tend to aggravate the condition so you can avoid those. Other stuff to avoid include greasy food, certain spices, caffeine and citrus fruits as these can cause episodes of acid reflux. Smoking has also been shown to extend the probabilities of acid reflux.

The known natural treatments for acid reflux all have one thing in common. They calm the stomach and its production of gastric acids. One of the finest strategies to do this is to drink one table spoon of apple cider vinegar mixed in a pitcher of water. It is also best to drink this in a meal to get the most efficient results.

Several fruit and vegetables are good when it comes to controlling the affects of acid reflux. These include, bananas, apples, figs, pineapple and papaya. You can also get the same effect from eating cabbage and carrots.

A last natural cure you can use is chewing gum. Dental gum increases spit out put which is an ant-acid produced by the body. As you chew the gum and swallow your own saliva it eases your gut.

It is funny the way in which the simplest of things can make a dramatic change in your life. I used to suffer with lots of acid reflux and heartburn. Often it felt like i had a pile in my chest that was on fire.

Obviously I had gone through the medical route and had been prescribed the usual mixture of antacid tablets and liquids and proton pump inhibitors. I had approximately $20 worth of medication on my shelf ready to use.

Then as I was skimming the web I stumbled upon the alkaline nature of lemons. To me this sounded ridiculous ; lemons are acidic and could not most likely help. What I discovered was that lemons leave behind an alkaline residue in the body that his highly advantageous to those subjected to angina and acid reflux.

So I started filling up a jug of water and added sliced, fresh, un-waxed lemons to the water to infuse throughout the day. This I drank during the day together with lemon juice in hot water in the evenings.

The first thing that I spotted was how refreshed I felt first thing in the morning if I drank this fresh lemon water first thing, instead of my common coffee or tea. At night, particularly in hot water, it was also far more relaxing as an end drink. I noticed my angina started to ease, the agony in my chest started to ease and my stomach sometimes started to feel much better. Obviously there were other participatory elements including cutting back on coffee and tea and making other diet changes; yet the refreshing and healing effect of lemon water was remarkable.

I did tell the specialist doctor about lemon juice and its alkalizing effect on the body; she had no idea and just assumed that lemons were acidic, as did I.

So now I still have my medications on the shelf ; all untouched. I no longer take anything. Glaringly one must go to their own medical pro first before stopping prescribed medications and one should get advice before making any major dietary change. For me though I have stopped purchasing antacids and stomach medicine and now buy bags of fresh, un-waxed lemons.

Nature is a really noteworthy thing; it has available all that one could ever need for a healthy way of life.

Is there an acid reflux natural remedy? It is true there are many natural remedies for acid reflux. We will discuss 5 of them here today. One of the biggest therapies is your diet. Others include your lifestyle, herbs and some simple cures that help renew the tissue around the esophagus.

It is well said “let your food be all the medication you need”, natural health is the ultimate goal. A proper diet with the right foods is better medication that any manmade drug. By giving the body all the correct tools to maintain natural health is the way it was designed. So why not take advantage of the natural design?

5 Solutions to the Acid Reflux Natural Remedy

The best of the acid reflux natural remedy to rid the heartburn naturally and heal the sphincter and esophagus begins with:

The Apple

You will not find much research to cement this natural remedy but it is true many suffers have gained relief from the apple. My grandfather used this cure for his acid reflux naturally. He would carry a simple slice of apple for flare ups.

Honey

Honey has been used for thousands of years it even carries the tag “miracle cure”. All the benefits of natural honey are unknown but many cures come from it. The dose is a large spoon full twice daily. One of the claims is that the honey will repair the tissue of the esophagus. What a sweet simple way to solve and uncomfortable problem.

Diet

People just do not understand the there are foods you must eat and some foods you must not eat. The esophagus and sphincter with acid reflux is damaged. Foods can make the problem better or much worse.

Follow these simple rules; limit alcohol, coffee, acidic foods and the spicy verity. Cut back or quit smoking altogether. Foods that are soft that do not cause more damage on the way down are better choices.

Water

Water you should drink 8 glasses a day for many reasons. One benefit for the esophagus and sphincter is when kept clean a tight seal on the stomach helps keep the acids in the stomach where they belong. This helps keep from causing damage to the esophagus by keeping the acid where it belong.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Sounds weird but it works in a lot of cases! You must use a brand like Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is unfiltered, unheated, unpasteurized and 5% acidity. It contains the amazing Mother of Vinegar which occurs naturally as strand-like enzymes of connected protein molecules. Drink an ounce of Bragg’s apple cider vinegar and you will increase the acids in your stomach. Add honey and Bragg's apple cider vinegar will boost the healing process!

Which Foods Which Cause Acid Reflux

Angina, as most people know is a fiery sensation that grabs hold of your lower chest followed by a bitter taste of acid reflux in your mouth that can persist for a few minutes or a couple of hours. Having Tums and Rolaids is only a non permanent heartburn cure. To get rid of or at least avoid angina, the best solution is to avoid certain kinds of food. The foods that you eat are a big element in causing angina. it is crucial to be aware of which foods that cause heartburn.

Foods That Cause Heartburn

Tangy Citrus Fruits

Sour citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits are classic heartburn foods. As they are very acidic they are responsible for a lot of heartburn especially when consumed on an empty stomach. Some folk believe that juices of these fruits won't cause heartburn but it isn't so.

Tomatoes

Though tomatoes may contain some awfully healthy nutrient elements like lycopene, which are superb for lowering cancer risks , it is vital to avoid them due to the high acid content. Any foodstuffs made basically in tomato-based sauce like pasta should specifically be avoided.

Garlic and Onion

Garlic and onions can also cause heartburn, though this won't be the case with all folks. Some people might not be influenced, while others may be highly affected even after consumption of a touch of onion or garlic. To find out if you are impacted by them it's best to keep a food journal to note the food items you have eaten that have led straight to angina.

Spicy Food

Hot food is a very common reason for heartburn in many people. Peppers, chillies or other spices if taken in large quantities in your diet, may lead to angina. It is not like you shouldn't eat foods that you like, for instance if you like Mexican food, you can try and have milder versions of it.

Foods Fat-Heavy

Though most folk afflicted by a heartburn incline to avoid fried stuff, what they do not understand is that there are other comestibles like cheese, nuts, avocados that all have a really high content of fat. Fats incline to decelerate the emptying of stomach, which increases the pressure on the esophagus and ends in heartburn.

These were the main foods that cause angina. This can change from individual to individual, so it's best that you keep a food book and monitor what you eat every day.

The cause of acid reflux is still very much so unknown. Though factors that are known to make a contribution to the illness include : stress, unsatisfactory diet, and poor lifestyle decisions. If another window of the main attributing factors to acid reflux disease.

We are able to start to implement changes in our overall lifestyle to reduce the results of acid reflux illness. The concentration on going well at this time however , is going to be only in the undeniable fact that having a correct diet is essential if you are compelled to live with acid reflux disease. With that having been said, should know that tiny changes in your dietary habits will cause the biggest changes to your angina later.

To start you should first always start with the small things, implement new things extremely slowly into your diet plans rather than all at the same time. Making drastic changes to your diet will cause you to be rather more likely to stray from your dietary plans, while making tiny changes will make you rather more likely to make permanent changes in your life. One very small thing that you can do which will have huge impact on your acid reflux is just eating a touch less.

Studies have demonstrated that the most important factor that causes you heartburn when you have acid reflux is due to over eating. So by simply limiting yourself, particularly in the afternoon to evening area, you can see big changes in the quality of the sleep that you get. Another tip, if you're having an issue at night with acid reflux disease is to eat a tiny dry break such as two or 3 crackers. Right before bed, and elevating your head, with perhaps 1 or 2 more pillows can greatly increase the standard of your sleep at night.

If your acid reflux is under control with just cutting down on some eating then congratulations. You should be just fine with your present diet. However , many of us need to research what we are eating and cut something out fully. For example fat heavy, spicy, caffeinated and alcohol may cause your gut to supply lots more acid to digest it. So cutting down or moving any of those foods can also help your acid reflux illness diet.

This is particularly important for if you start cutting out food groups, you do not want to go back and start binging on greasy and greasy foods, because you cut them out too fast and could not fight the desire.

An acid reflux disease diet is used to control chronic acid reflux or GERD. Gastro esophageal Reflux disease or Acid reflux, heartburn, otherwise known as is a straightforward, yet sometimes uncomfortable disease.

What is an Acid Reflux Disease Diet

An acid reflux illness diet is a straightforward way to reduce or eliminate the painful symptoms alone or with any medication. Part of the Acid reflux illness diet is eating light in the evening in order to stop agony at night. Eating less food at every meal is commended also because there is less in the stomach to cause the opening of the esophagus while the food is being digested.

Beginning and Maintaining an Acid Reflux Disease Diet

Food Diary: in order to find out what foods are put up with - a person often begins an acid reflux disease diet by keeping a food diary. Keep a diary of what foods you have eaten and any symptoms that appear.

Foods Evaded

Foods that are known to fire signs of acid reflux are eliminated while on the acid reflux disease diet. Some of these foods are fatty foods, chocolate, and coffee depending how well they're put up with. Also peppermint and spearmint products, carbonated drinks and alcohol are eliminated on an acid reflux illness diet because of how they stomach reacts to these particular foods.

Acid Reflux Illness Diet Natural Angina Inhibitors

An acid reflux illness diet plan that includes chewing gum, helps in forestalling heartburn. Chewing gum produces spit, that has a really low acid level and is repetitively swallowed. This saliva reduces the acid levels in the stomach and deters heartburn. It has been recommended that patients chew gum while on the acid reflux disease diet.

Acid Reflux illness Diet Myths

There are some myths about the acid reflux illness diet that studies have just recently shown. The majority think that milk should be drunk before bed on an acid reflux disease diet. This is wrong because later in the night the digestion of milk can cause angina.
Heartburn during Pregnancy all too often seem to be inseparable. One of the causes of this is the increased hormone levels in a pregnant woman's body. This causes softening of the ligaments which normally keep the lower esophageal sphincter securely shut. Accordingly, stomach acids are essentially unimpeded in progressing up to the throat and esophagus. A further reason why pregnant women experience heartburn is because of added pressure in the stomach area caused by the development of the baby. Frequently this can push the contents of the stomach up to the esophagus.

There are various techniques by which a pregnant woman can minimize the misery caused by heartburn. Here are some strategies that should give some relief.

* Keep your head elevated at least six to eight inches while sleeping. You might find a specially designed acid reflux wedge pillow to be helpful in these situations. This gives gravity some help in keeping your stomach acids from climbing the esophagus.

* Avoid alcohol, which you ought to in any case for the health of your baby.

* Stay far from foods that are known to result in heartburn. This means chocolate, highly spiced foods, citrus, tomato based foods, as well as fatty and fried foods.

* Bend at the knees, not at the waist. This keeps pressure off the stomach.

* Don't slouch when seated. Sit in the upright position in a comfortable chair.

* Avoid tight clothes. Restricting the abdominal region will frequently result in heartburn.

* Do not go to sleep for at least three hours after a meal. You're less likely to experience nighttime heartburn.

* Drink lots of water, at least 8 to 10 glasses on a daily basis. But be careful that you don't drink while eating if you can possibly help it. This will lead the abdomen to expand too much and drive out the stomach acids.

* Eat your food in a leisurely manner.

* Eat smaller portions of food. Eating small meals at regular intervals through the day will lessen the pressure on the stomach.

* Don't gain an exorbitant amount of weight. All that surplus fat puts additional pressure on the stomach.

* Stop smoking. This isn't only bad for the baby, it is a frequent cause of heartburn.

* Do not drink beverages that are high in caffeine such as tea, coffee and cola.

Heartburn may not be a life threatening condition, but it can certainly cause you a lot of distress. If you want to learn more about the causes of heartburn and what you can do to stop it in its tracks, visit the Heartburn Relief site.

If you've had heartburn or acid reflux for any time at all, you've undoubtedly have heard of a lot of different treatment options. Here's some things to consider why your looking for the acid reflux cure that's right for you.

Just to be certain we're all on the same page, let's begin by remembering that acid reflux refers to stomach acid backing up into the esophagus. Since the esophagus wasn't meant to handle acid, it becomes irritated and inflamed. The typical pain of heartburn results.

Since you know what causes heartburn, you have some idea of what you can do to prevent it. One thing is to avoid anything that might trigger an episode. You can also try to minimize the degree of reflux as well as decreasing the acid and thereby decreasing irritation

One of the first things to do to cure acid reflux is to accept the fact that you probably have to change your diet. If you notice that eating a certain food consistently causes problems then you need to stay away from it, at least until you reflux has been cured for some time.

You can minimize the acid backup by eating small meals. This keeps the stomach pressure low and makes it less likely that the stomach content will reflux.

Another good way to minimize the reflux is to avoid lying down immediately after meals. When you're upright gravity helps prevent reflux. If you lie down with a full stomach, reflux happens easily.

This is why many people wake up and know the night suffering from heartburn. Using an acid reflux wedge pillow gives many people great relief.

You're probably well aware that you can use antacids to help with reflux. Liquids are generally more effective but tablets or capsules a more convenient. Either form works by neutralizing acid has already been released.

Newer medications, which are available in both over-the-counter and prescription strength, prevent acid from being released in the first place. Since they don't work very well once an episode of heartburn is started, they are usually taken regularly until the reflux is under control.

I hope this is given you some ideas about what you can do for your acid reflux.

INTRODUCTION: Heartburn is a digestive problem that happens when stomach acid comes into contact with the lining of the esophagus, producing irritation. It has nothing to do with the heart though the irritation may be confused with heart pain and vice versa and is the most frequent symptom of a condition known as gastroesophageal reflux or acid reflux. It is often called acid indigestion and usually happens after meals and is a daily occurrence for approximately 10% of Americans and as much as 50% of pregnant women.

SYMPTOMS: Signs of acid indigestion and a heart attack may feel the same. One of the most common symptoms is spitting up. Heartburn symptoms are just flat-out uncomfortable and very painful. However, many people will only experience the milder signs. Pay attention and treat it, particularly if you feel symptoms often.

The good news is that making changes to certain habits will go a long way to stopping acid indigestion and other symptoms of GERD.

Heartburn is usually simple to diagnose from the symptoms you describe to your Physician. If there are any questions about the diagnosis, you may take the following tests to check for ulcers or other problems that might create your signs: barium swallow x-ray study of the esophagus, complete upper GI (gastrointestinal) barium x-ray study of the esophagus, stomach, and upper intestine endoscopy: a procedure in which a thin flexible tube with a tiny camera is put in your mouth and down into your stomach so your Doctor can see your esophagus and stomach.

To help decrease the signs you can try not to put a lot of pressure on the sphincter muscle. Seek emergency treatment if the following occurs with the heartburn and do not go away within fifteen minutes of treatment: shortness of breath; sweating; weakness; or arm, back, or chest pain.

FOODS: To minimize attacks, a sufferer may find benefit in avoidance of certain foods that relax the opening between the stomach and esophagus, such as chocolate, peppermint, and chamomile tea shortly before bedtime.

Restricting diet is extremely important, since 90-95% of sufferers of heartburn or esophageal problems can link their symptoms to certain foods. If the person notices that certain foods seem to make the condition worse, or more frequent, they would be better served to stay away from them, or at least talk to their Physician about products that can help decrease the amount of stomach acid that can create acid reflux.

CONCLUSION: Heartburn normally is due to gastroesophageal reflux disease (aka GERD), the rise of stomach acid back up into the esophagus. Acid indigestion and reflux are very common, with 10 percent of the population experiencing these signs at least once a week and may be brought on or worsened by pregnancy and by various medications.

It is common condition, and an occasional episode is usually nothing to worry about. Relief in the form of milk may be effective and drinking a small quantity of milk regularly over a period of time can begin to heal the effects as it washes acid back into the stomach.

A simple and relatively harmless way to treat a one time heartburn is to drink a solution of a small amount of Sodium bicarbonate mixed with water, which quickly neutralizes the acid that causes the pain.

Chewing gum can provide short-term relief by stimulating the production of saliva, which dilutes and flushes out stomach acid. When heartburn occurs frequently, however, or becomes severe, you should consult your doctor.

INTRODUCTION: Acid reflux is a condition where gastric juices containing acid travel back from the stomach into the esophagus (gullet or swallowing tube). More commonly found among adults, yet, children as well as infants, can be likewise affected.

It is most often known by its symptom of "heartburn" which reportedly affects 1 out of every 10 adults in the United States and is a very serious and common problem in the world today. In severe cases, this can be very bothersome. It is treatable and you should ask your physician what treatments are available and right for you.

GERD: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), or commonly known as acid reflux, is a chronic condition wherein the esophagus gets inflamed and irritated due to the stomach's acidic contents that backflow towards the esophagus passing from the lower esophageal sphincter. It is a severe version of reflux that often causes pain, vomiting and poor weight gain.

HEARTBURN: The name of the ailment given to a burning discomfort in the chest, just behind the breastbone. It is a symptom of another digestive disorder, and not a disorder by itself. Following heartburn, other reported signs are regurgitation, bitterness within the mouth, hoarseness, wheezing, dry cough, and throat tightness as if a hunk of food is entrapped. A heartburn every now and then does not necessarily mean one has GERD.

SYMPTOMS: Signs of acid reflux include: Heartburn (a burning feeling rising from the stomach or lower chest up towards the neck) and can be greatly relieved or prevented by lifestyle and dietary changes as well as the use of herbs known to promote healthy digestion.

TREATMENT: Treatment is the next step, but recognize that proper treatment can really only be utilized once a definitive diagnosis has been made. Moreover, after the esophagus has healed and treatment is ceased, the injury will return in the majority of patients within a few months. You may need to experiment with doses and drugs to find the right solution for your heartburn and GERD.

Drug treatment is often only needed for a short time although it may have to be repeated since some symptoms may re-occur. NEXIUM is prescribed for the treatment of frequent, persistent heartburn symptoms. But if these symptoms occur two or more days a week despite treatment and change in diet, you may have (GERD) also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.

CONCLUSION: Acid reflux is produce by food and stomach acid coming back up from your stomach and entering your esophagus and is usually characterized by a burning sensation in the stomach and chest region. It is a medical ailment, with heartburn as a possible symptom of that ailment. You should also realize that if it remains untreated for too long, you could be facing a lifetime of dealing with it. The bottom line is that finding the correct treatment is mostly about knowing your body and your symptoms.
